On December 16, 1773, Massachusetts colonists dumped 343 tea chests into the Boston Harbor in protest of the British Tea Act. In honor of this powerful act of defiance, we are thrilled to present a new 4-piece set featuring a Boston Tea Party motif. The visuals are inspired by the four stamps the U.S. Post Office issued in 1973.
The Boston Tea Party was a midnight raid in which a band of 60 colonists led by Samuel Adams dumped $18,000 worth of tea into the Boston Harbor. This act of rebellion was performed in defiance of the 1773 Tea Act, which gave the East India Company a monopoly on tea trade. In a larger sense, it signaled to the colonists the growing threat of the British empire against their liberty.
